We're starting to sweat again. And a lot. A new warm front from Africa is approaching Sardinia: an anticyclone that promises highs above 40 degrees , with even higher peaks in inland areas not mitigated by the sea . Temperatures will remain above average at least until Monday, but the scorching effects of the high pressure system cannot be ruled out as extending into the middle of next week.
The weather situation is nevertheless extraordinary. So much so that the Civil Protection Department has issued an "Adverse Conditions Warning due to High Temperatures." "Widespread high to very high maximum temperatures are expected across Sardinia, initially in the western parts, extending to the eastern and southern parts of the island on Sunday, with locally highs above 40-41 degrees," the official statement reads, which also emphasizes that "Minimum temperatures above 20-22 degrees are expected across the entire region. The situation will be reassessed on Sunday with a possible extension of the warning."
