An artistic residency in a cave on Mount Arci, and a previously unreleased track inspired by Mediterranean geological movements: "Alkapeca" is the performance that will be broadcast on Saturday the 1st at the GeoMuseo di Masullas, followed by a lecture with renowned musicians Gianni Maroccolo and Antonio Aiazzi, and Professor Telmo Pievani. An artistic experiment at the intersection of science, music, and social innovation, which will begin at 4:00 PM with a musical screening.
The day
The idea stems from a multidisciplinary discussion on the geology of the Masulle area and, more broadly, the island, as detailed in the GeoMuseum dedicated to Stefano Incani. It is described as an "extreme artistic residency," which will see the two founders of Litfiba and the evolutionary philosopher spend a full day in one of the caves dotting the mountain's slopes. The event will culminate with the premiere of "Alkapeca," a previously unreleased piece composed and performed inside the cave itself. The performance is in collaboration with the Pietro Mascagni Conservatory, featuring student musicians Cecilia Bianchi, Samuele Campera, Zoe Lardaro, Fabio Lucchesi, and Andrea Musio.
At the end, the three protagonists of the residency will hold a meeting dedicated to the inspirations deriving from the tectonic plate from which the initiative takes its name: Alkapeca is precisely the microplate that detached from the African side forty million years ago, subsequently shaping the current Sardinian and Mediterranean landscapes. From here, a conceptual journey begins, narrating through music a land in motion and therefore synonymous with transformation, detachment, and rebirth. This is just a preview of a larger musical work, still in progress.
The organizers
Maroccolo, Aiazzi, and Pievani's residency is just the third stop in the "Research Residencies" project, curated by the benefit organization Nabui with the support of the Municipality of Masullas and the Fondazione Parte Montis, the latter committed to transforming the small town of Masullas into a laboratory for cultural regeneration. In Masullas, anthropologists, storytellers, designers, artists, and innovators will alternate in multiple artistic residencies. The "Alkapeca" project, conceived by Maroccolo, Aiazzi, Tomaso Ledda (founder of Nabui), and Roberta Falcone, will be held, with the creation of Arte Residente and the hospitality provided to the resident artists by the Albergo Diffuso of Masullas.
