Let Cristian Zara fight in his city : this is the appeal to the mayor of Sassari, Giuseppe Mascia, from Fabio Albieri, vice president of the Sardinian Committee of the Italian Boxing Federation.
Albieri addressed the mayor directly, recounting the boxer's story: "Cristian Zara, reconfirmed in Carbonia just a week ago as the European bantamweight champion, has fought in many rings across Italy, proudly representing Sardinia . On the island, he fought in Stintino, Calangianus, Porto Torres, and Carbonia, facing opponents, hardships, and sacrifices with the determination that distinguishes a true athlete, winning prestigious titles. Yet something is still missing. Cristian hasn't yet had the opportunity to fight in his hometown, Sassari. Today, in light of his athletic growth and the international prominence his career has achieved, I believe the time has come for Sassari to give him back what an athlete could desire more than anything else: his own fans, his own ring, his own city."
Albieri's appeal: "I publicly appeal to Mayor Giuseppe Mascia, the Sassari City Council, and all Sassari institutions to work to make this event possible and realize the dream of a truly deserving athlete . Cristian has fought everywhere, and now it would be wonderful to see him fight at home, in Sassari. Fulfilling this dream, I believe, isn't a request for privilege, but rather the legitimate and human desire of an athlete who has dedicated years of his life to boxing and who deserves to experience at least once the thrill of stepping into the ring in front of his hometown fans. Sassari has a significant sporting tradition and has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to recognize and promote its champions. Let's make sure that day comes for Cristian Zara too."
