An evening entirely devoted to art, in the intertwining of readings and painting that is not so much figurative as more textual: this Friday in Cagliari , at Biancospino Dispensa , there will be an occasion for a meeting that will feature the paintings of Mario Deriu and the readings of Francesca "Ismaelle" Cogoni , which from 7.30pm will light up the venue in Piazza San Cosimo 6 .
The "writer of paintings" Mario Deriu, an artist and designer from Cagliari, will thus return with an exhibition format that is not based on the usual approach, giving shape to the literary suggestions of his works through the readings of "Ismaelle" , in an interdisciplinary journey between vibrant and ethereal images and the mastery of textuality.
Deriu has been pursuing calligraphic research for years, through which text becomes painting and the sign takes on expressive power , in the profound encounter between matter and thought. In a rhythmic visual tension, the recognizable, intense and almost obsessively reiterated line brings the written word into dialogue with Italian, Latin, and Sardinian, drawing inspiration from poems, aphorisms, and musical lyrics. Cogoni , a fellow citizen active as an actress, director, and cultural worker, is known for her strongly socially committed plays , blending fiction and historical investigation, as well as for her expressive readings , in which she has often addressed issues of marginalization and mental health in our region.
