For the crucial derby against Budoni, Olbia is calling on its fans to rally around the Nespoli stadium tomorrow to cheer on the team during the most difficult period of the season.
With nine matchdays remaining in the Serie D championship, the Whites are third-last with 21 points (after the 2-point penalty received a few days ago) and a gap of 10 points from thirteenth in the standings, when in order to have any hope of maintaining their category by at least accessing the playouts the gap must not exceed 7 points.
In short, the Whites would currently be in the Eccellenza league without a right of reply, and—the icing on the cake—behind them, Real Monterotondo and Cassino, bottom of the league, are breathing down their necks, one and four points behind, respectively. Anything is still possible, even outright relegation, but it's clear that anything other than a victory against Budoni would complicate matters, especially since it's a direct clash, with the Whites and Blues 10 points up in the standings, bordering on the relegation zone. And for a team like Olbia, who haven't won since the first leg of the derby—a full 16 games—tomorrow will be the match of their lives, also due to numerous key absences: Saggia and Biancu in midfield are suspended, and Santi in attack; the presence of Viscovo, who missed the previous round due to injury, will be evaluated.
Anelli, Perrone and Putzu return after the suspension in a defence that loses Buschiazzo (against whom Olbia Calcio has initiated arbitration action "for serious and proven breach of contract"), but gains the new signing Gaye, who was made official on Thursday.
Their opponent is faring better, but only up to a point. After hovering in the promotion zone, holding fourth place for several weeks, Budoni, who will be without Ladu (suspended), have slowly lost ground (their last win dates back to November 30th), and will arrive at the Nespoli stadium determined to end their long drought, redeem themselves from the first leg, and avoid being sucked into the play-offs. It promises to be a rather heated Gallura derby.
The teams will take to the field at the Nespoli stadium at 2:30 p.m.: Olbia-Budoni will be refereed by Matteo Santinelli of Bergamo; Andrea Boccadamo of Cinisello Balsamo and Elia Sanneris of Mantua will be assistant referees.
