A profound, extreme text that shakes the soul and leaves an indelible mark. Giovanni Trudu, a young director from Cagliari, fearlessly tackles one of the most difficult and intense texts of contemporary drama: “The 4:48 Psychosis” by Sarah Kane. He does so in a total way, signing the direction, staging and costumes, in a work that will debut on Friday 18 October at Casa Saddi in Pirri at 6 pm and that challenges the spectator to confront the thinnest boundaries between lucidity and madness.
The new production “Il Crogiuolo - centro di intervento teatrale” stars Ilaria Alice Tore, an actress who courageously takes up the challenge of interpreting a raw and merciless text, where emotions and numbers blend together in a monologue of rare intensity . Kane, who committed suicide at just 28 years old after having delivered this text to her agent, left her personal testament with “Psicosi delle 4:48”. The title itself, referring to the time of night when suicides peak, foretells a journey into the darkness of the human soul, an emotional labyrinth in which the author explores pain, loneliness and the desire to be understood and loved.
The monologue, apparently chaotic, gradually reveals the fragility of the protagonist, constantly balanced between the presence and absence of herself, between the will to live and the inevitability of death . It is a desperate confession, a dialogue between anger and love, which culminates with a last look, enclosed in the words "Please open the curtains". The black snow that falls is a symbol of an imminent end, but also of a last request for light.
Giovanni Trudu transforms this confession into an all-encompassing theatrical experience, an invitation to the audience to witness an extreme act, a suffering that becomes universal. A direction that does not accuse, but calls for sharing a love that, despite being pain, remains alive until the end .
