The ancient wall of San Gavino that surrounds Piazza Martiri Turritani, the historic area of the city of Porto Torres , returns to its former splendor .

The safety measures for the structure have been completed and the fence that demarcated the works aimed at resolving the main problems of the structure built around the mid-1800s in limestone blocks has been removed. Serious injuries and detachment of important stone elements were found, which put the stability of the embankment at risk.

The area will then be free for the traditional procession on May 3rd when the seventeenth-century wooden simulacra depicting the Holy Martyrs Turritani will be moved from the Romanesque basilica of San Gavino to the hypogeum of the church of Balai nearby .

The intervention is part of the San Gavino "Smart" Park redevelopment project for which the municipal administration can count on 500 thousand euros of resources deriving from the Northern Sardinia Metro network and will now continue with the completion of the fence that delimits the park area which overlooks Largo Sabelli.
