Olbia, San Simplicio: mass and procession in honor of the patron saint of all Gallura
The celebrations open with Diana through the streets of the city at the first light of dawn
With the Collage concert, the seventh stage of their Rinasco tour, tonight at 10 pm on the stage of the Fausto Noce park, the profane celebrations of Sa Festa manna de Mesu maju will close. Tomorrow, the events planned by the Celebration Committee are dedicated to honoring San Simplicio on the day of his martyrdom. They open with the Diana, through the streets of the city at the first light of dawn, followed by the welcome of the bishop of the Diocese of Tempio Ampurias, Monsignor Roberto Fornaciari, at 10 in Piazza Santa Croce, who, at 11.30 in the square of the Basilica of San Simplicio celebrates his first solemn pontifical mass in honor of the patron saint of Olbia and Gallura.
Starting at 6pm, the procession with the statue of the Saint through the city streets that marked the path of the protobishop: the procession is accompanied by the musical bands of Olbia and Berchidda and by nineteen folk groups from all over Sardinia who, at 9pm in the square of the Basilica, they close the feast of San Simplicio.
