With the traditional ribbon cutting at the Cervo Conference Center in Porto Cervo, entrusted this afternoon to godmother Martina Colombari, the 13th edition of the Porto Cervo Wine and Food Festival officially kicks off.

The event dedicated to the world of wine and food, organized by Marriott International, will concentrate the sector's professionals in Costa Smeralda until Sunday: around sixty wine and spirits exhibitors and around 20 food exhibitors will be present. «As the daughter of a restaurateur I have always loved conviviality: here we talk about Sardinian but also Italian wines, of which we can say we are proud», intervenes the showgirl and actress from Romagna, one of the youngest and most loved Miss Italy, after cutting the ribbon next to Franco Mulas, Costa Smeralda area manager, Mario Ferraro and Franco Carraro, respectively CEO and president of Smeralda Holding, and the mayor of Arzachena Roberto Ragnedda.

«I thank the producers who allow the event to go ahead and Smeralda Holding who supports us: it is not an event for comparison but for growth, our goal is to surpass our French cousins, who sell less wine than us but earn from exports double", says Mulas instead.

So, Ferraro. «This event was born from an intuition of Franco Mulas almost 13 years ago with Sardinian friends who believed in it from the first hour, and has grown to become a national event, marking the beginning of the tourist season in Porto Cervo and increasing our calendar» , the CEO of Smeralda Holding underlines with satisfaction, before giving the floor to Ragnedda. «The festival was born as a challenge, not as a bet, because we believed in the territory and in the producers by pursuing a non-obvious discourse, which makes us appreciate beyond our sea and our beaches», adds the mayor of the Costa Smeralda at the end .

Focused this year on the theme of international trade and exports, the Porto Cervo Wine and Food Festival started yesterday, with tastings dedicated to operators which continue today, exclusively involving sector professionals and the "Porto Cervo Wine Masters", such as buyers national and international, hoteliers, restaurateurs, oenologists, journalists and operators in the nautical sector.

From tomorrow, the food and wine event will open its doors to the public. Also tomorrow at the Hotel Cala di Volpe the gala dinner is scheduled: musical star of the evening Enrico Ruggeri.
