On the island it is the most affected area and in lower Gallura and Baronia restrictions and rationing have been in place for some time , with huge unknowns for next summer. To date, at Maccheronis, as emerged from yesterday's summit in Nuoro, there are only supplies for just under two months. The eight million cubic meters of water available will not be enough to quench the thirst of residents in municipalities and hamlets and the hundreds of thousands of arriving tourists.

For agricultural and pastoral companies, however, no water for irrigation , but only for livestock. Dam too small and this year, unfortunately, also very little rainfall. There has been talk of increasing the reservoir capacity, just under 24 million thanks to the latest works, since after the severe drought of 2003. In that year, 12 million euros from the CIPE also arrived to raise the barrier (effectively available since 2005 ). Since then a series of attempts to carry out the work have all failed.

Now Enas has practically concluded the contract for this important intervention. As confirmed after the Nuoro summit, the general director Giuliano Patteri , '«the technical offers have already been examined and in recent days the economic ones are under examination. The works will be tendered shortly." The work should be completed in 4 years and will allow approximately 7 million cubic meters of additional water to be stored. For Gian Luigi Farris, Salvatore Ruiu and Martino Sanna, mayors of Siniscola, Posada and Torpè, this is "good news that has been awaited for decades. Now let's respect the timescales for the works, because as the crisis of recent days demonstrates, the territory needs important answers."
