The danger level of forest fires is rising again in Sardinia.

According to data from Effis, the European Information System of the emergency management service of the EU Copernicus programme, the risk level in the center of the island and on the eastern coast is currently red, or "high".

Yellow danger level, however, in the Cagliari area, in the Sassari area, in Gallura and in the Sulcis.

In addition to central-eastern Sardinia, in Italy there are currently only the Pescarese area, Molise and the provinces of Foggia and Bari.

The survey comes a few days after the flop of the third tender for the 2024 firefighting campaign , which was unsuccessful like the previous two.

To date, no company has accepted the Region's conditions for the supply of rental helicopters. To deal with the fires, Sardinia currently only has 5 aircraft available, when 14 would be needed.

There are two hypotheses to try to take action: support for the Army or the purchase by the Region of one or two aircraft.
