Cagliari, a chasm opens in the street: moments of fear in via Bacu Abis

Moments of fear in Cagliari, in via Bacu Abis, where this evening a deep chasm opened in the asphalt which sucked a stretch of road into the void. A near tragedy, given that a woman - with a little girl in tow - was passing by a few meters from the hole and raised the alarm.

«The municipal works intervened on the spot - says the former municipal councilor Marcello Polastri - but the renovation of the square which rests on the void is expected once and for all, because the underground services are half a century old, they have not been put back together despite complaints, and it is not the first time that similar events have occurred in recent months."

«The area – continues Polastri – is in fact burdened by an atavistic problem, with water and sewage leaks on the road which, despite the citizens' requests, are coupled with the road pavement full of potholes».
