«It is with great sadness that I learned of the vile gesture that struck your family, the desecration of Enrico Berlinguer's tomb is an act of vandalism that offends us all, an attack on those principles of respect and democracy in which he believed and on which he based one's cultural and personal life."
Thus begins the letter of solidarity and full closeness that the President of the Regional Council of Sardinia Piero Comandini sent this morning to the Berlinguer family to express "sorrow" for the vandalism committed against the tombstone of the Sassari politician.
«His teachings, for many of us in those very young years, were crucial – continues Comandini in the letter – for our education. He had great faith in young people and in the future and the values and feelings that he delicately and almost timidly expressed. they have affected our lives.
So when we are adults, if we had the privilege of knowing him, we remember with nostalgia that man who left us a great human, cultural and political legacy, a legacy that defined the experience and how it was experienced is depends on what men and women we are today."
«Unfortunately, sometimes these teachings are missing or forgotten and then it happens that you don't know what you're doing. I want to believe that the hands that acted to carry out the vile gesture acted recklessly, without an intentionality aimed at striking the memory of a man who marked history.
I will continue – concludes Comandini – to be the guardian but also and above all the bearer of those values that he passed on to me and which have contributed to being the man I am".
