He fell from a tree and the accident, which occurred this morning, was fatal: Salvatore "Totto" Pranteddu, a 61-year-old master nougat maker from Aritzo, died in the afternoon .

Pranteddu, an expert chestnut grower and reference for the producers of the entire Barbagia di Belvì, was pruning the plant, in land in the “Bau Ponte” area, when, for reasons yet to be ascertained, he fell disastrously to the ground. Immediately rescued by the 118 volunteers from the Belvì station together with the Mike 11 arriving from Sorgono, he was transported by air ambulance to the Santissima Annunziata hospital in Sassari, where his heart stopped beating in the afternoon, following a serious chest trauma .

The news of his passing generated deep emotion in his hometown and in the area, as well as in the Barbagia of Seulo, Sarcidano and Barigadu where Pranteddu was a regular presence at village festivals.

Pranteddu leaves behind his wife and two children. The date of the funeral has not yet been made official. Tomorrow's patronal celebrations have been cancelled.
