A 45-year-old teacher was arrested on charges of mistreatment of the children she looked after in a municipal nursery in Milan.

The precautionary measure, signed by investigating judge Angela Minerva at the request of prosecutors Letizia Mannella and Rosaria Stagnaro , came at the end of an investigation conducted by the local police of the Lombard capital.

The investigations made it possible to document shouts, insults, threats but also physical violence towards at least ten children aged a few months or just over a year.

Daily abuse such as vulgar insults, pulling and in some cases even "hands and legs on the back" to prevent the little ones from getting up and to "force them to sleep".

The educator has currently been placed under house arrest.
