Gianfranco Fini was sentenced to 2 years and 8 months in the trial linked to the purchase of an apartment in Monte Carlo .

This is the sentence issued by the judges of the Court of Rome. The Prosecutor's Office had requested a much heavier sentence of eight years for the former President of the Chamber.

Fini's partner Elisabetta Tulliani was sentenced to 5 years, as was his father Sergio, while his brother Giancarlo Tulliani was sentenced to 6 years . The prosecutors had asked for 9 years for Elisabetta, 10 for Giancarlo and Sergio.

The story dates back to 2008 and is linked to the sale of an apartment in Monte Carlo bequeathed to Alleanza Nazionale by Countess Annamaria Colleoni. House purchased, according to the accusation, by Fini's brother-in-law Giancarlo Tulliani, through offshore companies. Paid just over 300 thousand euros and resold in 2015 for over 1.3 million dollars .

Gianfranco Fini's comment: «I am not disappointed: I was not held responsible for money laundering, evidently the only thing that prevented me from being acquitted was the authorization to sell the apartment . I authorized the sale but I didn't know that it was to a company attributable to Tulliani . I leave more peaceful than you might think after 7 years of trials. I remind myself that for a similar event a complaint against me was dismissed by the Rome prosecutor's office. It is right to have faith in justice, certainly if it were a little more prompt. After so much talk, after so much controversy, so many accusations, so much denigration from a political point of view, am I responsible for what? To have authorized the sale. It's not clear to me what the crime consists of ."
