Two dead and one injured, fighting for his life in the intensive care unit. Three motorcyclists involved in three separate accidents in less than 24 hours. The toll of blood shed on the roads of Nuoro by those traveling on two wheels is heavy.
The dramatic count began yesterday afternoon: Marco Muredda, 37, from Sedilo , lost control of his vehicle while in the Su Berrinau area, a short distance from Nuoro. His condition immediately appeared critical. The manager of two supermarkets and vice president of the Ardia organizing committee, he was urgently transferred to San Francesco Hospital: his prognosis remains guarded and his condition remains extremely serious.
Things went even worse overnight for Francesco Quaranta , a thirty-four-year-old from Orosei. He was riding his motorcycle on State Road 125, between Capo Comino and Berchida, when he crashed and—perhaps due to speed—hit a guardrail and a post on the road, killing him instantly.
This afternoon, a dramatic discovery was made on the SP 39 highway near Orani . A 65-year-old Austrian motorcyclist went off the road and ended up in the bushes. His friends in the group hadn't noticed anything; only after a few kilometers did they realize a member of the convoy was missing, and his lifeless body was located several hours later.
