Massacres of motorcyclists on Sardinian roads. From the beginning of the year to today, there have already been 22 victims on two wheels , an impressive number - as highlighted by Michele Vacca, national vice-president of the unharmed motorcyclists' association - if we consider that over the entire 2023 there were 29, and 25 the previous year .
Yesterday's accident in Alà dei Sardi and the Paulilatino tragedy are only the most recent. One of the latest episodes was recorded on 30 June in Cagliari : a 64-year-old riding a scooter died in a collision with a car on provincial road 93 in the Macchiareddu area. A car would have crossed into the opposite direction of travel, impacting the motorbike. The man died instantly.
Three weeks ago , a 32-year-old originally from Bonorva lost his life in a road accident that occurred along state road 195 in Cagliari: he was traveling on a Honda Cb 650 which hit a truck. Due to the violent impact, the motorbike caught fire, sliding along the asphalt and the flames also engulfed the centaur.
On the same day, along the provincial road 83 in Fluminimaggiore , a 29-year-old from Terralba lost his life when he lost control of his motorbike while rounding a curve and crashed into the guardrail. Also in mid-June, a tourist resident in Milan aboard a scooter along a country road in Is Molas, near Pula, collided with a deer which cut him off.
