In Sassari, love continues to grow for Christian Foddai and Chiara Urgias , who disappeared on March 17, 2024 at the crossroads for Tottubella , hit by an SUV.
They were 19 and 16 years old, both from Sassari and, in their memory, their parents founded an association that, last Sunday in La Crucca, organized a day to remember them.
"We had a great response," said Simona Pasteriga and Katiusha Sanna, mothers of Chiara and Christian respectively. "People even came from Olbia and Arzachena." Attracted by the positive force that the two young people continue to project: " Even those who have never met them have learned to love them. The association's goal is to not let them be forgotten and to make people aware of the dangers of driving."
"We are very angry about what happened because it could have been avoided . They were just going down to Alghero for a walk and they never came back."
After the tragedy, the two families met and never left each other again: " Becoming one family. Now we are inseparable like Christian and Chiara were ." Their images, always smiling, returned in the mini-candlestick dedicated to them, in the soccer memorial, and in the tree that is in Santa Maria di Pisa together with the other children who died before their time. "We also planted one in the land of the Crucca, where a drawing by Chiara is reproduced. We lit up the tree because they have already experienced darkness."
" Chiara would have liked to do many things - Simona says - and I want to fulfill her wishes a little ". "All these initiatives are good for us - adds Katiusha - Even the little brothers participate and their lives have changed in an instant". With the farewell of Christian and Chiara who however continue to be present in the lives of those who were close to them and not only.
