In Oristano the first attempt on the track for the European network of ring rides . The Greek island of Zakynthos won the tender, after the signing of the memorandum of understanding for a further step towards the definitive birth of the international partnership.

THE SIGNATURE - To sign it, last weekend at Palazzo degli Scolopi, the mayor of Oristano Massimiliano Sanna, the President of the Oristano Foundation Francesco Deriu, the president of the Alka di Sinj Stipe Jukić Knightly Society, those of the Giostra Cavalleresca di Sulmona Maurizio Antonini, of the Jousting Association of Zante Maura Kardari, the director of the Knightly Society of Barban Andrej Kancelar and the mayor of Osilo Giovanni Ligios.

UNION AND SHARING - "The signatories of the protocol - reads a note - have chosen the Oristano Foundation as the leader in the phase of setting up the network. The Network is intended as an instrument of union and basis for sharing and direction, and will a legal organization to better protect and promote the interests of members and allow access to contributions and other forms of support from public and private institutions ".

THE AIMS - "Organizers and organizers of races and ring rides want to consolidate relationships in order to increase knowledge and attractiveness towards their events and their respective assets, jointly promoting the common elements, in order to generate greater visibility of the demonstrations and the territories in which they take place - says the premise of the document -. The protection and enhancement of the intangible cultural heritage and, in the particular case, of that linked to the Giostre all'Anello, cannot ignore the contribution and effective coordination between the bodies operating in the territories. The subjects draw up the Protocol with the aim of creating a European Ring Rides Network ".

CULTURAL PROMOTION - "The Network, as the Protocol specifies, was created to qualify, disseminate and make known in Europe, as well as protect and enhance the phenomenon of the Races and Giostre all'Anello and their important historical, cultural and artistic heritage - specifies the Mayor Massimiliano Sanna -. For Oristano, which has an extraordinary tool for cultural and tourist promotion in Sartiglia, it is a very important starting point in perfect harmony with the purposes for which the Oristano Foundation was born and for which the municipal institution operates ".

THE NETWORK - “The International Carousel at the Ring marks an important step in the project to establish a European Network of Carousels at the Ring, on which the Oristano Foundation has been working for some time - reiterates the President of the Oristano Foundation Francesco Deriu -. The signing of the protocol and the carousel on Sunday were the result of a long and patient work carried out with the international partners of the Oristano Foundation: Sinj and Barban from Croatia, Zakynthos from Greece and for Osilo and Sulmona for Italy, places that traditionally host rides to the ring and which for the first time were found in our city in Oristano for an international carousel ".

THE FIRST RACES - On Sunday, the first edition of the International Joust to the Ring was won by Zante with 33 points. At the end of four tests, only two points of advantage allowed the delegation from Zante to precede Osilo. The Greek island is therefore the first to write the name on the roll of honor of the newborn event. In third place, with 18 points, was Sulmona. Among the riders, first place for Francesco Migheli of Osilo with 26 points. Second classified Paolo Faedda who represented Zante with 23 points. Third in the standings Emanuela Colombino who represented Sulmona with 18 points.

The carousel was held in the SOE facility, on an eight-man sand circuit, built on a grassy field, 350/400 meters long with two challenging but soft curves, and two straights on which a rope will be stretched. which will be hung 3 rings of different diameter which will correspond to a different score.

At the end of the event, satisfaction was expressed by the Councilor for Culture Luca Faedda: "The international carousel of the ring was born in Oristano, but aims to become an itinerant appointment, involving all the realities that are working on the establishment of the European network of 'Ring in line with the principles dictated by the protocol signed last Saturday. We start from an excellent base with the other Italian, Greek and Croatian cities, but we aim to broaden our horizons by first involving Ciutadella di Menorca, a city to which we are twinned ”.
