Assault on armored van in Tuscany, hunt for bandits with Sardinian accent: over 20 shots fired

They were transporting money destined for the Grosseto pension vault: it is estimated that the gang could have taken away at least 4 million euros in black bags. With the videos, taken by those who were in the area, where the Sardinian accent is noticeable: «Hey, are we all here?»
The Livorno prosecutor's office has opened a case for robbery and is coordinating the investigations entrusted to the Carabinieri of the Livorno investigative unit assisted by the Piombino company. Also during the night, around 2 am, thanks to the work of the firefighters and the police, traffic was restored on the Variante Aurelia. In the investigators' reconstruction, it emerges that in the assault at least 20 shots were fired, including from long weapons, at the front of one of the Battistolli vans , the first to lead the convoy, plus several shots in the air with the aim of intimidating the five security guards, none of whom were injured, who were on board and who were then disarmed, to get out of the vehicles.
The robbers had previously blocked the convoy carrying the money with two vans, which turned out to be stolen, one in front and the other behind, at a point where the road for works has a single lane. At that point the criminals, after having made the guards get out, would have inserted the explosive inside one of the vans, blowing up the roof to allow access to the money .
The gang acted in just a few minutes and after loading the money onto three grey and one dark SUV, two Volvos and a Volkswagen, they set fire to the two vans to better ensure their escape and drove off in a southerly direction, disappearing without a trace .
