There's a new change on the Regional Council benches: Alessandro Sorgia, currently in the Mixed Group, is joining the Brothers of Italy group.

The rapprochement had been underway for some time and Fdi is the chosen destination for the Cagliari representative, the only one elected on the League lists in 2024, from which he said goodbye in August 2025 by announcing his own suspension.

Sorgia had criticized the lack of involvement in political decisions and stated that he had often felt alienated within the party. He continued his work as an independent councilor in the Mixed Group, emphasizing that he wanted to "continue to represent the needs of citizens and the local community with seriousness and determination."

Sorgia, an accountant from Cagliari, served as a city councilor in Cagliari with responsibilities for Productive Activities, Tourism, and Local Promotion in the government led by Paolo Truzzu, before joining the Regional Council. The move will be made official at a press conference tomorrow.

The FdI, the leading opposition force on the Assembly benches, now has 10 regional councilors, slightly fewer than the largest group, the Democratic Party, which currently has 11 members. They could be joined by Gian Franco Satta, the former Agriculture Councilor who, after leaving the Progressives, remains with the Mixed Group.
