The 2025-2026 Serie A season ended yesterday with Cagliari's stunning victory over AC Milan , but it's already time to think about next season. The dates have just been made official: kick-off is the weekend of August 23rd, in just under three months. Play will continue until Sunday, May 30th, 2027, the date chosen for the final matchday of the season. In just eleven days, on Friday, June 5th, the full schedule will be announced during the Serie A Festival in Parma.

Some updates on the breaks. The first will be extended from two weeks to three, with the league suspended on September 27th and October 4th (matchday five will be played on September 20th, with matchday six restarting on October 11th). Then there will be international breaks on November 15th and March 28th, and the return of the Christmas break (which had been skipped in recent years) on December 27th. Two midweek matches will be played, on Wednesday, October 28th and for Epiphany on Wednesday, January 6th.

Cagliari, however, will make their Coppa Italia debut with the round of 32 tie, presumably at home on the weekend of August 15 (a week before the start of Serie A). The tournament will open on August 9th with the preliminary round, and will continue with the round of 32 on Wednesday, September 2nd (reserve date Tuesday, September 15th), the round of 16 on Wednesday, December 2nd and Wednesday, December 16th (reserve date Wednesday, January 13th), the quarterfinals on Wednesday, February 3rd and Wednesday, February 10th, the semifinals on Wednesday, March 3rd (first leg) and Wednesday, April 21st (second leg), and the final on Wednesday, May 19th, 2027.
