A young man from Alghero, who had been watched for some time, was arrested by the carabinieri of Santa Maria La Palma for illegal possession of a firearm and related ammunition.

During the search, taken at the first light of dawn and carried out by the military together with the helicopter squadron Cacciatori di Sardegna and a canine unit, the hiding place of a rifle was identified. Jeniche, a 5-year-old Belgian shepherd, pointed to a precise location that allowed to discover the weapon of which the brand is alleged but the serial number is not known because both references have been mechanically removed. The rifle was also equipped with a flashlight and a laser pointer - tools usually used for illegal night hunting of medium-sized prey. Subsequently, 170 .22 caliber rounds and a modest quantity of marijuana were also seized, the use of which was intended for personal consumption.

The arrest was validated and the young man was subjected to the obligation of residence with overnight stay at home.
