The phosphorescent sign on the roundabout between Villamassargia and Iglesias indicates S'Ortu Mannu, the land of large olive trees, those of peace. The ambulance blue and orange flashing lights pierce the deep night of the Sulcis Iglesiente in the distance, which has always been a desolate land of struggles and layoffs. What "Rome" calls "well-being" advances slowly in the heart of darkness, partly out of shame, partly to curb the revolt of the horns which during the day "bombard" tanks and howitzers in transit from north to south of the island, with endless queues.

The night of S. Efis

Almost as if NATO, for the landing in Sardinia, had chosen the 367th descent of S.Efis, from May 1st to the night of return. Ports and airports, civil and military, literally besieged by gigantic planes, from the Ukrainian Antonov to the Boeing cargo, to ships overflowing with "war". Hundreds of lethal weapons, means capable of devastating any obstacle that stands in the way of the advance of the "enemy". It is not written explicitly, the strategy is pervaded by an Anglo-Saxon gait, as if the translation were a free interpretation for the lovers of macaronic English.

Maximum alert

In reality, however, the deployment in Sardinia of the "Very High Readiness Joint Task Force", the advanced point of the NATO-branded "war", does not leave much room for interpretation: the island is experiencing direct confrontation between the Atlantic and Vladimir Putin's Russia. Needless to go around it, the deployment is that of "alertness and deployment" of the multinational NATO forces in case of war. Eight foreign states were sent to the "military colony" of Sardinia to devastate the beaches, coasts and environment, with the excuse of preparing to fight the enemy. An unhesitating "call" to arms with the operation in Sardinia entrusted to the German-Dutch First Corps, considered the most powerful in the deployment on the Teulada scenario. In the land of the Nuraghi, those destroyed and devastated by NATO in that shooting range "snatched" from shepherds and farmers, the commander of the assault on the "enemy" is the German 37 Armored Infantry Brigade of Freiberg, in Saxony. The few official notes, the state "tissue papers", speak of exercises aimed at "deterrence and the defense of NATO". In practice, the deployment in Sardinia would serve to "fear" the enemy and demonstrate "the interoperability, readiness and cohesion of the allied forces". The heart of the operation is summarized in a cable from Palazzo: "demonstrate that we can deploy NATO forces in the event of a crisis". The attack on the Island is concentric. For the four days of S.Efis the airports of Elmas and that of Decimomannu are attacked. The radars signal everything and more, from the dozens of military cargo planes, painted in petroleum black like the one of the American Air Force that arrived in great secrecy in recent days in Decimomannu, up to the giant of the skies, that Antonov An 124- 100 with the Ukrainian flag, overloaded with the deadly "Tiger" attack helicopters, landed to general astonishment in the war airport located between the artichoke fields of Villasor and the peaches of San Sperate. At the same time, in the desert of the Porto Canale of Cagliari, transformed without authorization into a military base, an unexpected third ship docked, again with the livery of the DfDs, the Danish company in charge of the NATO transfer from northern Europe to Sardinia.

The Night of the Leopards

The square of the port of Giorgino, the one that was once dedicated to the strategic role of the island in the maritime traffic between Gibraltar and Suez, in the night is transformed into a "four lanes" of tanks, including the Leopards, from all " warmongers” more experienced, defined as the most powerful in the world. An infinite marching column, no less than a hundred tanks, which during the night ventures first under guard on the state road 130, manned by traffic policemen, forcibly sleepwalking, forced to block intersections and traffic lights in order to leave free the artery connecting Cagliari and Villamassargia, to then climb towards Teulada. On those trucks with special trailers there is everything, from self-propelled howitzers, the "Panzerhaubitze 2000", to infantry fighting vehicles, and above all a load as disturbing as it is unedited, the "Stinger" anti-aircraft systems, a surface-to-air missile used by all US armed forces. To "play" war also the RQ-11 Raven drones, those supplied to the United States Armed Forces. All devastating weapons aimed at Sardinia, its coast, its beaches, its environment. The "welfare" of NATO in Sardinia is lined up.
