Massive fire in Orosei: residences and homes evacuated, state highway 125 reopened

A large fire broke out this morning in the Orosei countryside, fanned by strong mistral winds. The flames are rapidly spreading towards the hamlet of Sos Alinos, endangering homes, accommodations, and agricultural land.

Three teams from the fire department, the Forestry Corps, and the regional agency Forestas responded immediately to the scene. The firefighting teams have now increased to five, with thirteen vehicles in tow, plus Civil Protection and Police (highway and municipal).

State Road 125 from Orosei to Siniscola reopened after a few hours . The Orosei municipal administration, in an urgent appeal to the population , asked them not to visit the site to avoid hindering rescue efforts and creating traffic given the critical situation. At Sos Alinos, buses were arranged to transport residents to safety .

To support the firefighting operations, coordinated by the Orosei DOS, air support was also requested: helicopters from the Alà dei Sardi (Super Puma) and Sorgono bases arrived, in addition to the Fire Brigade . Three Canadair aircraft, which took off from Olbia, are also operating on site. Barracelli and police officers are also present.

As a precaution, preparations were being made to evacuate the residences located near the fire area. Some homes in Su Crastu and Marzellinu were also evacuated.

No injuries have been reported so far, but the situation remains critical and evolving. There are fears that the wind could further complicate the rescue teams' efforts.
