His name was Daniele Cacciarru , the 35-year-old killed this morning with a shotgun blast fired between the chest and face in Santadi , in Sulcis.

The young man, unemployed, was originally from Carbonia and lived in Portoscuso. A 61-year-old suspect was taken to the police station. Investigators and prosecutor Daniele Caria, who is coordinating the murder investigation, are gathering his version of events.

The Carabinieri of the Carbonia company and their colleagues from the Provincial Command are working to reconstruct the incident in detail.

According to preliminary investigations, the crime appears to have arisen from an argument over drug use and dealing . This morning around 7:30 a.m., Daniele Cacciarru, accompanied by two others, reportedly showed up at the 61-year-old's property to settle a dispute.

A violent argument ensued, which then escalated into murder. The 61-year-old's neighbors raised the alarm by reporting gunshots to 112. The 61-year-old himself reportedly called the Carabinieri, saying he had shot the 35-year-old.

The Carabinieri of Carbonia and Cagliari, the coroner Roberto Demontis and then the prosecutor arrived on the scene.

According to initial information, the suspect claimed to have defended himself from an attack and been threatened by the victim, but he did not hand over the rifle used in the crime to the Carabinieri. This reconstruction is now being verified by investigators, with the help of RIS specialists and through interviews, including those of witnesses. Proceedings may be initiated in the coming hours.
