After two days of waiting, parked at a service station on the 131 , the two new trains, coming from Switzerland, finally arrived at their destination.
This morning, the two new, modern trains, loaded onto special trucks, passed through the town's main street , with technical safety ensured by the local police, law enforcement, and ARST staff. At the station, the two trains were unloaded and placed on the tracks.
These are two modern trains, diesel and electric (and in the near future, they will also be able to run on hydrogen), which will enter service on the Macomer-Nuoro line. These Stadler trains, designed for the specific needs of narrow-gauge railways, guarantee high performance and improved standards of passenger comfort.
The introduction of these vehicles represents the first step in a broader investment program by ARST, which will immediately put the new vehicles into service. They will gradually replace those currently in service and modernize the line's fleet. Meanwhile, as ARST communicates, work continues to upgrade the railway infrastructure and technological systems. The new vehicles and technologies will improve the overall regularity, quality, and safety of transport on the Macomer-Nuoro route.
