Breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of Luca Goddi, which occurred on August 4, 2023 in the center of Orune : at dawn today the Carabinieri of the Bitti Company and the Investigative Unit of the Provincial Command of Nuoro, with the support of the Squadron Helicopter Hunters of Sardinia, arrested Pietro Contena, 54 years old, originally from Orune, believed to be the material perpetrator of the crime.

The precautionary custody order in prison was issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Nuoro at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Nuoro led by the deputy chief prosecutor Andrea Ghironi, as part of an investigation coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Ireno Satta.

At the same time as the arrest, four other people, also from Orune, were reported at liberty, accused - to varying degrees - of complicity in murder and illegal possession and carrying of firearms. The military carried out personal and house searches on these suspects in search of further elements useful to the investigation.

According to the investigations, on August 4, 2023, around 6:30 p.m., Pietro Contena allegedly fired four shots from a 9x19 caliber pistol at Luca Goddi, hitting him in the head and shoulder while he was inside his Volkswagen Golf, parked along Corso Repubblica in Orune . The crime took place right in the center, in front of numerous witnesses who, however, for various reasons, did not cooperate with the investigators.

The reconstruction of the facts was made possible thanks to an intense investigative activity that began immediately, which included scientific surveys at the crime scene, analysis of telephone records, acquisition and study of images from public and private surveillance cameras, and numerous wiretaps.

The investigations also allowed to identify a person who helped Contena in his escape immediately after the murder: the alleged murderer was stopped while he was going to the bar for a coffee.
