After nearly sinking in the waters of Carloforte , it was blocked in the port of Cagliari following safety checks that revealed several irregularities on board . Now, however, the Blue Ocean A has been freed and is ready to leave Sardinia. The ship, flying the Caribbean flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis, will most likely leave the capital's port tomorrow morning towed by a tugboat .

The cargo ship's engines had failed off the island's southwest coast, quickly rendering it unmanageable. Adverse weather and sea conditions further complicated the rescue operations.

Upon arrival in port, the Blue Ocean A was inspected and subjected to checks that revealed numerous deficiencies , preventing it from sailing again. Now, with the requirements completed, the ship is ready to leave the island .
