The autopsy on the body found in a well near the provincial road 56 Lotzorai-Talana confirmed it: the victim is Mosé Cao, the 58-year-old from Lotzorai who died on 18 September in Tortolì. And evidence was also found on the hypothesis followed immediately by the investigators: it is a murder.

Two spherical bullets were extracted from the body, probably exploded by a shotgun loaded with buckshot, which hit the 58-year-old in the chest and head.

The examination was carried out at the Lanusei hospital, at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office, by the coroner Matteo Nioi, flanked by a biologist for the sampling of the tissues that will be used to analyze Cao's DNA. But the confirmation that it is precisely the worker who disappeared at the end of the summer has already come from tattoos (recognized by relatives) and teeth (recognized by the man's dentist). Histological examinations were also arranged to establish the date of death with certainty.

Meanwhile, the investigators are proceeding with the investigations to shed full light on the case. Immediately after Cao's disappearance, prosecutor Giovanna Morra had opened a file for kidnapping against unknown persons. Now, after the discovery of the body, the crime hypothesis at the bottom of the file is that of voluntary murder.

Cao, who worked as a worker in the Lotzorai municipal construction sites, had been involved in events related to drug trafficking. In recent years he had also received a 13-year sentence in a trial centered on international drug trafficking. And it is precisely in the environment of drug trafficking and drug dealing that clues are sought to try to trace the author - or authors - of the crime.
