A pedestrian walkway that will cross viale Diaz and viale Colombo . And that will unite the basilica of Bonaria to the sea . This is the symbolic idea of the redevelopment project of the Su Siccu waterfront area presented in a public conference at the Teatro Massimo in Cagliari . It is the first phase of the design . There is also another objective: to find openings in the fair grounds to bring the city closer to the water.

"This is the basic idea of the plan - said the mayor Paolo Truzzu - we are designing the face of a city that speaks to the sea . This project completes the waterfront from Giorgino to Marina Piccola in a line of continuity with what is about to be born. in via Roma and the area adjacent to the new Sant'Elia stadium ".

The project bears the signature of the architect Laura Peretti : "Difficult to talk about times - said the professional - but we have created the conditions for a concrete plan that can be implemented by working from the design stage in close contact with the Port Authority, the Chamber of Commerce ( for the Fair) and the Superintendency ".

Ready to be created - reads the guidelines - "corridors of permeability and more conspicuous connections between the urban fabric and the waterfront ". In other words, we imagine a future in which nightlife and walks can really move in front of the sea. Also with car and bike sharing and wi-fi zones. The Bonaria walkway is in some way emblematic: "An iconic image of this project - said Truzzu - there is also a walkway on the water".

THE KEY POINTS - Four key aspects. The "thundu mediterraneu" will be a panoramic space suspended between the different areas between Fiera, Nervi pavilion and Sant'Elia, above the underground car park. Then the "portofiera telescope" , an axis that crosses the fair, joining land and sea. And again the "terramare" : a long green belt that starts from the Fair and reaches the sea. And finally the suspended tie rod , the walkway that starts from the Bonaria staircase connecting Piazza dei Centomila, pine forest and waterfront.

The demolition of some overpasses is planned, including the Sant'Elia bridge that leads from the sports hall to the stadium.

Piazza dei Centomila will be central in the project with a path that includes a market, dance school and covered parking. A plan that is also “green” with a reduction in noise, polluting dust and energy consumption.
