"A doctor who has saved dozens of lives finds himself out of the hospital without ever having been able to even begin his work." Thus his patients, their families and hundreds of indignant citizens launch the revolt: a petition has been launched on Change.org that, in less than 24 hours, has already collected almost 2 thousand signatures to ask for the reinstatement of Massimiliano Tuveri at Arnas Brotzu in Cagliari.
According to the Brotzu top brass, he would not have achieved the objectives set. But the doctor, considered a luminary in his field, retorts: "They never put me in a position to work, even though I tried in every way."
Not only colleagues have come to Tuveri's defense - with a complaint already presented to the Court of Auditors and signed by thirteen doctors - but also those who have been able to directly experience his value .
Like Susanna Fanti, who told her mother's story on Change.org: a wrong diagnosis, a destiny marked by six months of life at most and then the meeting with Tuveri, then in service in Verona after years of training in Texas, in the United States. Thanks to his expertise and dedication, Susanna's mother, nine years later, is alive and well.
"Today we want all Sardinians to have access to a doctor like him," Fanti writes in the text of the petition, asking that Brotzu not only rehire Tuveri, but finally provide him with an operating room, machinery, staff and adequate tools to carry out his mission: saving lives.
