Water service disruptions continue due to a burst main on Via dei Salinieri . This morning, the street flooded, with Abbanoa technicians responding to repair the damage. Not without its problems: La Palma, Quartiere del Sole, San Bartolomeo, Sant'Elia, and Poetto are reporting drops in pressure and a complete lack of water, causing significant disruption to homes and businesses . The break occurred a year ago.
The work was supposed to be completed at 2:00 PM, but the project proved more complex than expected. It took longer, and Abbanoa has announced that it will be completed this evening anyway: water supply is expected to restart around 8:00 PM .
To prevent further breakages, following the sudden failure, Abbanoa technicians decided to completely replace a section of the pipeline on Via dei Salinieri. The crack in the pipe that emerged after excavation revealed a longitudinal crack that could have widened further . Instead of carrying out a standard repair with a band, a new pipe is being installed for a section of approximately 6 meters.
The pipeline affected by the break is one of the city's main ones , connecting the Monte Urpinu reservoirs to the neighborhoods beyond the Terremaini Canal: La Palma, Quartiere del Sole, San Bartolomeo, Sant'Elia, and Poetto . "The network operations carried out by Abbanoa technicians," the company states, "have prevented an excessive drop in the reservoir levels: a possibility that could have affected a larger area of the city."
