The injuries sustained in the road accident in front of the school were too serious : Beatrice Loi, 17, the student who was hit yesterday morning in Cagliari while crossing the road , on the pedestrian crossing, on Viale Colombo, to go to the "Alberti" scientific high school, died in the Brotzu hospital.

A death that leaves friends, family, a city and an entire island stunned , and not only for the tragedy of a young life cut short, but because it comes just a few hours after news of two other deaths, two other 17 year olds , Aurora Marcia and Riccardo Lai , who lost their lives during the night on State Road 130 , on the outskirts of Iglesias, in a dramatic crash while they were riding their scooter.

Two episodes that are only the latest in a dramatic trail of blood that crosses the streets of Sardinia: there have been 105 victims since the beginning of the year, five in the last two days alone .

Beatrice Loi was taken to the hospital in Cagliari yesterday morning after being hit, but her condition immediately appeared very serious . She was admitted to intensive care with a reserved prognosis. This morning her heart stopped beating. An 82-year-old pensioner was driving the Fiat Panda that hit the student. The driver's license was revoked. He now risks being charged with road homicide.

Aurora Marcia and Riccardo Lai lost their lives during the night: they were riding a scooter on the State Road 130, at the gates of Iglesias, when they crashed into a Range Rover . Rescue efforts were in vain, the two young people died instantly.

The bodies have already been transferred to the Orthopedic Trauma Center by order of the judicial authorities, while the Carabinieri are working to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident.
