Before Nuoro Public Prosecutor Ireno Satta and Preliminary Investigations Judge Giovanni Angelicchio, all those arrested involved in the Nuoro Flying Squad operation against the gang accused of organizing the robbery of the Mondialpol cash van in Torpè, the attempted robbery of the Battistolli van in Siniscola, which failed at the last minute, the robbery of the Oliena ATM in August (also unsuccessful), and the robbery of the Pratosardo Monopolies depot, exercised their right to remain silent.
The six men, arrested at dawn on Tuesday, are now in Badu 'e Carros prison . They are Michele Carta, 41, from Siniscola; Riccardo Mercuriu, 30, from Mamoiada (represented by the lawyer Francesco Lai); Antonio Saccheddu, 35, from Orgosolo (represented by the lawyer Margherita Baragliu); Alessandro Dessolis, 41, from Orgosolo (represented by the lawyer Stefano Murgia); Giovanni Piras, 29, also from Orgosolo (represented by the lawyer Carmelino Fenudi); and Pasquale Musina, 49, also from Orgosolo (represented by the lawyer Riccardo Floris).
Still on the run is Peppino Puligheddu, 60 years old from Orgosolo, who escaped arrest .
According to the investigation, the gang planned the robberies carefully, using a complex organization and adequate logistical resources. The robbery of the Mondialpol van, which took place in Torpè, was successful, while the one at Battistolli was apparently foiled at the last minute.
Investigators are now continuing their investigations to reconstruct the network of accomplices and the possible involvement of other individuals.
