The three pitbulls that attacked an employee in the courtyard of the school on Via Meilogu, in Is Mirrionis, have been seized and transferred to a kennel in Nurri .

The Municipality of Cagliari announced this following the incident, which had caused considerable alarm among the school community ahead of the start of classes.

As for the owner of the dogs, a man who is illegally occupying the accommodation that was once intended for the institute's caretaker, the Public Prosecutor's Office, together with the local police, has initiated proceedings aimed at his eviction .

The attack occurred last week : a 66-year-old secretary, Daniela Serra, was attacked by dogs , which bit her leg, side, and arm, and she ended up in hospital. The animals, the woman said, "were going for my throat and I was on the ground; they would have killed me." A group of boys from Via Quirra saved her when they heard her screams, climbed over the fence, and attracted the attention of the pit bulls. The other employees were forced to barricade themselves in the school . It wasn't the first time; reports had been sent to the municipality in April, June, and July: teachers were afraid to cross that gate. But last August 28, tragedy almost struck . And the municipality decided to take action.

"We are satisfied with the intervention of the local police and the other municipal services involved, which restores peace of mind to the school community, especially in view of the reopening of schools for the new year," remarked Councilors Giulia Andreozzi (Education) and Luisa Giusa Marassi (Urban Ecology) .

"The Cagliari municipal administration," the Zedd council members added, "is committed to continuing along this path and addressing the ongoing illegal construction in the city , as happened in recent days in Piazza Medaglia."
