The mother, saved in extremis at the Lanusei hospital , has returned home . The comforting conditions, after the surgery and a short hospital stay, allowed the doctors to sign the discharge paper, giving a happy ending to the story that hit the headlines in recent days .
The ordeal of the 32-year-old puerpera from Ogliastra began a month ago, after giving birth on March 19 to her second child (a baby girl), but no hospital in southern Sardinia found a serious internal hemorrhage . Until, on Easter night, the woman was taken to the Emergency Room directed by acting head physician Marinella Cocco. The Radiology staff, led by director Roberto Prost, subjected her to instrumental tests that highlighted the damage in progress. The patient, who had lost three liters of blood and had a devastated tube and a damaged uterus with compromise of an arterial branch, was transferred to the operating room where Gian Pietro Gusai's team saved her life with the precious and fundamental collaboration of the specialists in the Resuscitation and Anesthesia department directed by Francesco Loddo.
The intervention of Gynecology was also crucial, with acting director Marco Dei.
Today the woman's family found the strength to release the first and only statements: " At Nostra Signora della Mercede everyone was exemplary and we thank the professionals who worked on this occasion . The staff demonstrated maximum professionalism and competence. God save the hospital of Lanusei".
