A 55-year-old person, resident in the Treviso area and recently returned from a trip to Congo, died from a suspected case of fever with hemorrhage .
The case was reported by the Public Health Hygiene Service of the Azienda Ulss 2 Marca Trevigiana and investigations have been started to understand the origin of the disease , in collaboration with the Spallanzani in Rome.
All public health measures foreseen for these cases have also been activated, and isolation has been ordered for the victim's only known contact.
In Congo, several people of all ages have recently died from a mysterious, still undiagnosed disease that causes fever, headache, cough and anemia. The Central African country has imposed travel restrictions and sent in WHO experts.
Italy has raised the level of attention by arranging checks on direct flights from Congo.
