Ballots opened a few minutes ago for the 50,869,304 Italians who are now called to choose the representatives of the new parliament . Of the 46,127,514 voters, 51.74% are women and the remaining 48.26% are men. The electoral body includes 2,682,094 adults who for the first time, after the recent amendment of art. 58 of the Constitution, will be able to vote not only for the Chamber, but also to elect the Senators of the Republic.
Of the young voters there are 1,302,170 women and 1,379,924 men.
There are 1.3 million Sardinian voters , divided into 1,836 sections, called to elect 11 deputies and 5 senators . Seven deputies and three senators are elected with the proportional method and the lists blocked, while four deputies and two senators will be elected in the single-member constituencies. Voting takes place until 11pm.
