The parents of Filippo Turetta were also there last night at the silent torchlight vigil which was held in Vigonovo, with almost 3 thousand people, in memory of Giulia Cecchettin , the young girl brutally killed by her ex-partner , who had not accepted the end of their relationship.
"They felt it was their duty to be there - said the lawyer Emanuele Compagno - as a sign of closeness to the Cecchettin family, whom they have not met".
Speaking with some reporters, Nicola Turetta, Filippo's father, wanted to clarify some statements that in his opinion had been distorted : «I never said - he explained - that I would have preferred that Filippo had died . I was afraid he would make a desperate gesture. I just wanted to go and get them both alive ."
And while in Vigonovo , a town with no more than 10 thousand inhabitants, there remains deep sorrow over the death of Giulia , now "everyone's daughter" as the inhabitants of the town say , the news arrives from Germany, where Filippo Turetta was arrested. that the young man's extradition will soon follow .
The judge of the city court of Halle an der Saale, in Saxony Anhalt, has already validated the arrest of Turetta, who during the hearing, his lawyer, Emanuele Compagno, said, "has agreed to be extradited to Italy" . However, he will now have to wait for the regional court to begin examining the extraction request. "It could take about fifteen days to bring him to Italy - added the lawyer". The times, observed the Minister of Justice Carlo Nordio, «in these cases are rapid. Everything depends on the judiciary of Venice, but generally the times are very quick."
The head of the Farnesina Antonio Tajani underlined that with the European arrest, which took place thanks to "the coordination between our police forces and the German ones", the boy "could be entrusted in a few days to the police forces and the Italian justice system to undergo a fair trial."
The technical times foreseen by the extradition procedures are generally a few weeks, but Italy has already completed the translation into German of the international arrest warrant and sent it to the German authorities.
When the extradition is ready, a team of the Italian judicial police will go to Germany to take delivery of the 22-year-old to transfer him to Italy and make him available to the judicial authorities. And there are many questions that the magistrates intend to ask the young man , to define the details that are still missing and above all to evaluate whether or not there was premeditation.
