If Italy fails to qualify for the World Cup for the third time in a row, for Rino Gattuso "it will be a disappointment, it will certainly be a major blow. I have to take my responsibilities because I'm the coach, but we'll talk about it later." The Italy coach said this at the press conference in Zenica on the eve of Bosnia-Italy. "Now we play and we don't get points. We haven't broken our heads yet," Gattuso warned. "When and if that happens, if we break our heads, we'll get points. But win or lose, I always put my face on the line."
The coach also spoke to Sky, trying to boost his team: "The team has improved a lot. If we're less impressive, that's fine, it's not a problem. Our history shows that with our mentality and willingness to endure, we've achieved unexpected goals wearing this jersey."
"Football players live for nights like this. There's that tingling sensation. I think there's nothing more beautiful. If you don't have that, you have to hang up your boots, or if you're a coach, you have to quit," adds the Italian coach. "We play a lot, there's awareness. We have to be good at not losing energy and putting it all out on the pitch."
He continued: "I've felt a great responsibility since taking over the national team, but I can't focus on what will happen, whether positive or negative. I have to focus on looking the players in the eye and instilling enormous confidence. We have the potential to achieve this goal ," Gattuso concluded.
The Italy coach also addressed the controversy surrounding the video showing some Azzurri players celebrating Bosnia's victory over Wales . "I assure you that's not the case, we have great respect for Bosnia."
