A more intimate Candlemas, far from the crowds of the past, conditioned by Covid and compliance with safety regulations.

Oristano did not want to give up celebrating the day which, with the delivery of the blessed candles to the componidoris and their official investiture, marks the start of the Sartiglia. Despite the uncertainties on the program due to the health emergency, to avoid the complete blockade of the past year, the Municipality, the Oristano Foundation, Gremi and the Cavalieri Association are working to guarantee at least some symbolic and significant moments such as the dressing, the parade, the blessing to the city and the crossing of swords.

The Gremi di San Giuseppe and San Giovanni moved from the first light of day. The first act was the blessing of the candles during the mass which for the Gremio dei Contadini was celebrated in the church of San Giovanni dei Fiori, while that of San Giuseppe took place in the Cathedral of Santa Maria. As usual, the Municipality was also involved in this intimate moment, with the gift of blessed candles brought early to Palazzo Campus Colonna by the presidents of the two Gremi, Michele Pinna and Antonello Addari, and delivered to the mayor Andrea Lutzu and the members of the Giunta municipal.

The Gremio dei masatori has renewed the tradition, delivering the blessed candle to the mayor and the council. The most awaited moment came at the end of the morning with the sounds of drummers and trumpeters, toasts and greetings from relatives and friends, with the delivery of candles to the two componidoris.

In via Ginevra in Livio Urru for the Gremio dei Falegnami (in pariglia together with Attilio Balduzzi and Giuseppe Sedda). In via Martiri di Sutri to Francesco Loi for the Gremio dei Contadini (which has Luca Figus and Daniele Ferrari as team mates.)

Great emotion and joy also at the home of Federica Pani, very young componidoreddu of Sartigliedda organized by the Pro loco.

The president Gianni Ledda gave the blessed candles to the race leader and the members of the team Lorenzo Carboni and Luca Piras.
