Cagliari has officially announced its second signing for the 2026-2027 season: Demi Akarakiri. Following Alessandro Romano , the Rossoblu club has announced the agreement with the 2007-born English midfielder (of Nigerian origins), who underwent a medical in Rome in recent weeks.

Akarakiri is the "young signing from England" that president Tommaso Giulini had teased during the press conference introducing new sporting director Pietro Accardi. He has just been released by Everton at the end of his contract, where he played from 2023 until the second team , having started his career in Arsenal's youth academy. Cagliari scouts followed him extensively last season, including in person.

"A midfielder with the typical characteristics of a modern midfielder," Cagliari introduced Akarakiri, "combines physical strength and dynamism with an ability to read the game, along with a dribbling ability that allows him to be at the heart of the action." The new Rossoblu signing has signed a contract until June 30, 2030, with an option for a further three seasons , and will be available to Fabio Pisacane for pre-season.
