Archie Battersbee is dead. The life of the 12-year-old British man at the center of a tug-of-war between the family, which asked to keep him alive, and the institutions was interrupted two hours after the interruption of the life support provided by the machines.

"He was a beautiful boy, we fought to the end," said mom, Hollie Dance.

The boy had been in an irreversible coma since April: his mother had found him unconscious in his bedroom: he had a rope around his neck and it is thought he had participated in a tragic game through social media. The doctors intervened immediately but Archie never recovered.

The mother had approached the High Court, the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court, the United Nations and the European Court of Human Rights to arrange for her son to be transferred to a hospice for the terminally ill and to be prolonged assistance to keep him alive.
