He wanted his firstborn to be a boy, but when a girl was born he got so mad that he killed the little girl with a gunshot.

The horror comes from Mianwali, Pakistan. Shahzaib Khan, the man arrested, had stayed away from home after learning that his daughter had come to light, refusing to accept her for a week. When a relative attempted to take the baby, the father threatened him with the weapon. Finally, some shots went off at the newborn girl: four shells recovered by the police.

The girl, called Jannah, which means "paradise", was subjected to an autopsy and the examination confirmed the dynamics reconstructed by the police.

More than 500 children have been killed in Pakistan in the last two years, especially girls: among the reasons the fathers fear in particular of having to pay the dowry to their daughter for the wedding or that of being "dishonored" by any behavior of a girl, usually related to sex.
