US President-elect Donald Trump has called for an “immediate ceasefire” in Ukraine and the start of negotiations. He also said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “would like to reach an agreement” with Moscow to end the conflict. Trump held a trilateral meeting at the Elysée Palace in Paris yesterday with Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron.
“ Zelensky and Ukraine would like to make a deal and end this madness ,” Trump wrote on his Social Truth. “They have lost a ridiculous 400,000 troops and many more civilians. There should be an immediate ceasefire and negotiations should begin.”
The president-elect also spoke about the fall of Damascus : "Assad is no longer there. He fled his country. His protector, Russia led by Vladimir Putin, no longer intends to protect him . Moscow has lost all interest in Syria because of Ukraine, where nearly 600,000 Russian soldiers are wounded or dead in a war that should never have started and that could last forever."
