The first results of the investigation by the Santa Fe Police, in New Mexico, exonerate Alec Baldwin, the actor who on the set of the film "Rust" shot with a gun that he considered unloaded , killing, because the unloaded weapon was not, director of photography Halyna Hutchins, injuring director Joel Souza.

First of all, the investigators reconstructed the dynamics of the incident: as foreseen by the script, Baldwin had to leave a church and take the weapon out of the holster. The actor did it a first time without problems. The second, however, something went wrong and a shot went off from the gun, which hit Hutchins in the chest first and Souza in the collarbone then.

For the police Baldwin was unaware that the gun was loaded and unaware of the bullet in the barrel was also assistant director David Halls, who had handed the weapon to the actor after picking it up from a gray trolley positioned near where Baldwin was to shoot. the scene.

On the other hand, the position of the head of gun safety on the set, Hannah Reed, 24, daughter of art of Thell Reed, famous Hollywood gunsmith, who in the past has also collaborated with Quentin Tarantino, is being examined. Reed would be the one who prepared the weapons for Baldwin's scenes.

And there is a background: the 24-year-old was on her first assignment and in recent weeks she had not hidden, in a podcast, the doubts about her ability to carry out the job of gunsmith, telling listeners about her fears and the advice she received from her father.

At the moment, however, no one is yet indicted. For his part, Baldwin broke his silence on what happened, saying he was "deeply devastated".
