A Finnish businessman has been sentenced to three years and eight months in prison for violating sanctions against Russia. The decision was made by a court in South Karelia.

According to the ruling, the company sold 135 trucks from Finland to Russia between 2022 and 2023. The transaction was feasible because the recipient companies were registered in Turkey and Kazakhstan, and EU sanctions against Russia did not cover transit through Russian territory.

The businessman denied the accusations, claiming that at the time he believed the trucks were going to Kazakhstan, the Finnish news agency, Stt, reported.
