Tragedy this afternoon in the mountains in Switzerland, where a 14-year-old Italian boy died in an accident .

It took place in the territory of Ghirone, in the municipality of Blenio, Canton Ticino .

According to what has been reconstructed, the boy, from the province of Varese, was taking a group excursion in the Capanna Scaletta area. While walking on the path he fell for about 100 meters , overwhelming another 14 year old, a member of the same group, also resident in the Varese area. Another 14-year-old Swiss boy who was not part of the party, in an attempt to rescue the two boys, also crashed.

The toll is therefore dramatic: one dead, the first boy fallen, and two wounded, both in serious condition .

The 14-year-old wasn't there with his family, he was part of a group of 20 teenagers accompanied by some adults . The group was walking the path between Pian Geirett and the Scaletta hut, which according to what was explained by the Swiss police does not present particular difficulties but is exposed for long stretches. On one of these, the boy fell 100 meters.

In addition to the cantonal police officers, rescuers from Rega and SAS, the area guard and the Swiss mountain rescue team intervened, who unfortunately could not help but ascertain the death of the 14-year-old, while the other two young people were transported by helicopter to the Lugano hospital. The intervention of the Care Team to provide psychological support is also required, the Swiss police said.
